More than a million years ago the islands of Maui, Moloka‘i and Lāna‘i were part of a single land- mass called Maui Nui or “Big
Maui.” Now separate islands comprising
Maui County, these three distinct destinations complement each other for meetings
and leisure travel alike.
“Maui Nui offers a unique meeting
experience,” says Sherry Duong, director of
meetings, conventions, incentives and inter-
national sales for the Maui Visitors & Con-
vention Bureau. “We offer value for groups
make programs a
success. And our
work with plan-
ners to maximize
at least two of
the islands during a single meeting, either
as a day trip or pre- or post-stay, Duong
says, adding that the recently renovated and
reopened Four Seasons Lāna‘i is generating
excitement for meetings and incentives.
With Maui a highly popular destination, Duong urges planners to allow plenty
of lead time and to work with the Meet
Hawai‘i team in searching for the best rates
Maui is famous for beaches, beauty and
romance. Many people also know that Maui
has been voted “Best Island in the World”
by top travel magazines year-after-year. But
here are five things about meetings and conventions in Maui Nui that may be a surprise:
❚ Accessibility. There are over 200 nonstop
flights to Maui from the U.S. mainland.
Business travel from the U.S. mainland
and Canada is easier than you think.

meeting spaces with world-class hospitality and state-of-the-art technology. Maui’s
largest indoor function space is 28,000
square feet and the island features many
outdoor venues with spectacular views.

than 19,000 rooms in five world-class,
resort areas: Kapalua, Kā‘anapali, Wailea,
